On Tuesday 8 June 2021 the 6th Data Privacy & Protection Conference was held online by BOUSSIAS Communications in collaboration with LAWYER the Business Magazine.
Mina Zoulovits, Partner at ZK Law Firm and Legal Counsel of GRECA, the Greek eCommerce Association, shared with the audience her views on the challenges and difficulties faced by businesses in their efforts to comply with the GDPR. In her speech titled “Challenges of eshops and Marketplaces in complying with GDPR and e-Privacy legislation“, she described the key compliance pillars of companies, namely:
- accountability
- decision-making
- transparency
- the designation of DPOs
She also pointed out the obstacles such as workload, lack of time, cost, commitment obligations and the significant change in philosophy that all companies had to adopt, as well as the difficulty of understanding technical concepts. She also elaborated on the issue of cookies, which has been and continues to be a thorn in companies’ compliance.
